It started out so well - slight drops of rain but nothing too bad, and a lovely sunrise. Sadly not much by way of birds. After about half an hour the sun had vanished again behind the blanket of cloud and the rain gradually increased enough to force giving up. Camera ISO never got off 1600. Southerly winds are not the best, and little was moving. Swallows in one group flew directly south over the river - not something I often see.
On a side note, and rather bizarrely, it's been two weeks since I recorded a new species for the year in any of three patches. In September! I know I cashed in some of those chips earlier in the year, but still - something's got to give!
